
Group Tour to Auschwitz – Birkenau
Take part in our regular group tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp from Krakow and learn more about the modern history marked by German crimes and cruelty in forced labour camps during World War 2 in occupied Poland. We will take you to Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, the site of former camps, that now preserves this place in memory of over 1 million people (including 960 000 Jews) who died here and acts as a research centre. The Museum grounds became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and today it is visited by over 2 million people from all over the world annually.
During the visit with a local guide, you will be able to see the most important parts of the museum such as:
Auschwitz I – the main camp (approx 2 hours of visiting):
- camp infrastructure barracks (storage, workshops),
- SS guardhouse and camp director’s office,
- The Arbeit Macht Frei gate, thousands of prisoners walked through this gate on their way to long hours of hard labour,
- numerous exhibitions showing personal belongings of the prisoners,
- courtyard of the Block 11 with so-called Death Wall – place where people were executed,
- Block 11- the camp jail – had several functions; prisoners were held in the basement; the first test of mass murder with Zyklon B was arranged here,
- the site of the execution of the camp commandant Rudolf Hoss
- the gas chamber and crematorium I.
Auschwitz II – Birkenau, the largest center of extermination (up to 1,5 hours of visiting)
- the infamous railway entrance gate for trains transporting prisoners to the camp,
- the ramp, destination for trains carrying people deported to Auschwitz,
- the ruins of gas chambers and crematoria I and II,
- the monuments to the victims, located at the end of the railroad platform, between the ruins of the gas chambers,
- the main camp bathhouse – the Sauna,
- Kanada, the storehouses for loot,
- the ruins of gas chambers and crematoria IV and V,
- the barracks.
Our Itinerary
- Pick up at 8:30 or 10:30 am* (in December & January – 9:30 am) from one of the meeting points in Krakow close to the Main Market (Pawia street or Wielopole street)
- A drive of approx. 1,5 hours in a shared air-conditioned vehicle to Auschwitz Concentration Camp Museum
- Up to 3,5 hours of a guided group tour in English with a local guide
- Free time for lunch or having rest by the entrance to the Museum (before or after sightseeing )
- Drive back to Krakow in the same vehicle
- Drop off in Krakow (*exact pickup time is confirmed on the day before the tour)
